Rolling bearings and track rollers for infeed, guidance and transfer stations serving cooling and freezing equipment. Temperature zones and cleaning conditions are considered for each bearing arrangement.

The lowest start-up temperature and the temperature during operation are considered separately for each bearing arrangement.

COMPONENTS DESIGNED TO WORK TOGETHER

In the cold, the whole bearing arrangement matters.

Lubricant, seals, loads and movement need to work together. Restarting is particularly relevant when the bearing arrangement has cooled down fully during a standstill.

Our approach: Assess start-up temperature, standstill duration and movement together with lubrication and sealing.

Lubrication for applications down to −50 °C

Applications down to −50 °C are possible with suitable KÜPPER configurations. Greases with a stated temperature range starting at −40 °C may also be considered following an application-specific assessment.

At lower temperatures, grease becomes more viscous. We therefore consider starting behaviour, load, speed and operating duration when selecting the lubricant and grease quantity.

Sealing against cold and moisture

Condensation at temperature transitions, defrosting and cleaning processes can expose the bearing arrangement to moisture. Seal materials and sealing principles must suit the low temperatures and surrounding media.

For contact seals, their contribution to friction is also included in the design assessment.

Corrosion protection and food environments

Corrosion-resistant materials, stainless steel options or suitable coatings are selected according to moisture, cleaning conditions and component loads.

Where incidental food contact may occur, NSF H1 lubricant options can be considered. Selection is specific to the configuration and its temperature requirements.

FROM DESIGN TO SERIES PRODUCTION

Your drawing. Our starting point.

Include the bearing arrangement early in your system planning. Together, we review design, interfaces and operating conditions for rolling bearings, track rollers, guide rollers and support rollers.

Installation space, running surfaces and connection dimensions determine the geometry. For plastic-coated track rollers, the suitability of the coating material for the intended low temperature also forms part of the design assessment.

Together with engineering and technical purchasing, we also discuss sample requirements, quantities per system, planned call-offs and requested delivery dates. This allows technical requirements and procurement planning to be developed together.
