Maintenance free roller for conveyor chain

Challenge

Due to the increasingly complex technical systems for the production of vehicles, it is necessary to keep the necessary costs for maintenance and servicing as low as possible. Particularly in the area of spatially difficult-to-reach rollers for conveyor chains in the dryer systems of the automotive industry, regular regreasing is absolutely necessary to achieve the service life due to the high temperatures. The aim of the project carried out was to further develop the track roller used into a maintenance-free track roller while maintaining the specified service lives.

Küpper solution

By using a friction-optimized, self-lubricating and temperature-resistant plastic snap-on cage, the time-consuming regular relubrication of the track rollers can be dispensed with. The material selected for the cage is a mechanically highly resilient thermoplastic filled with graphite, which releases the smallest amounts of lubricant in tribological contact and thus enables lifetime lubrication of the track roller.
