However, a weakness that is common to all bicycles, the pedal crank bearing, could not be entirely eliminated at first.Thus the idworx team with a love for details and a knack for perfectionism continued to search for “the” solution to this problem and consulted the roller bearing specialist Artur Küpper GmbH & Co. KG. Since customers of the idworx premium brand occasionally reach for the pressure washer “after the workday is done”, designing an innovative sealing system was an important objective for the bearing layout. This system had to withstand a 130 bar water jet but simultaneously run with no resistance. Furthermore, it all had to be integrated into the very limited installation space of the pedal crank housing.
The technically contradictory requirements were successfully met by the developers at Artur Küpper GmbH & Co. KG with the new generation of pedal crank bearings under the brand name “idworx EBB Long Life”. Fabrication of the sophisticated bearing units in Küpper’s own roller bearing plant in Velbert was another plus in the productive and successful collaboration with Küpper. Consistently high product quality and continuous supply security with minimised throughput times were therefore ensured.
